Puppies Behind Bars (PBB) involves incarcerated individuals in the training of service dogs for wounded veterans, first responders, facility dogs for police departments, and explosive-detection canines for law enforcement. Puppies are brought into prisons at 8 weeks old and live with their inmate handlers for about two years. Through this program, inmates gain a sense of purpose and responsibility, learning the value of contributing positively to society.
